British Association for Jewish Studies (BAJS) Conference, Edinburgh, 10-12 July 2017

‘Jews on the Move: Exploring the movement of Jews, objects,
texts, and ideas in space and time’

 On July 12, 2017, the Institute sponsored a panel on Jewish Genealogy at the British Association of Jewish Studies conference in Edinburgh. The panel was entitled: “Scotland’s Jews: migration, research and resources” and it dealt with aspects of work then being done on IIJG’s flagship project, “200 Years of Scottish Jewry – A Demographic and Genealogical Profile”.

The panelists and their topics were:

  1. Harvey Kaplan, “Documenting Jewish immigrants in Scotland”
  1. Michael Tobias, “The ancestral origins and dispersal of Scottish Jewry”
