Genealogical Standards – Data Entry
This project, dealing specifically with standards for recording proper names, dates and places, was undertaken by Gary Mokotoff.
Initially (in the first half of 2007), Mokotoff endeavored to work with a team of well-known experts who, it transpired, lacked the cohesiveness and will to engage in a collaborative venture, aimed at elaborating a common standard for genealogy in general. Mokotoff therefore elected to pursue the project on his own, seeking advice and assistance as required.
In the summer of 2008, he produced a Proposed Standard for Names, Dates and Places in a Genealogical Database. This proposal was reviewed by more than ten specialists who offered comments on the draft work as it progressed (without necessarily endorsing the standard as a whole).

Mokotoff would welcome comments on, and suggestions for improvements to, his proposal. They should be sent to mokotoff@earthlink.net
